New Inkscape releases

When working with graphics, raster is often first choice and probably PhotoShop or Gimp, which depends on your operating system, but creating vector graphics can also be fun and sometimes even more intuitive than bitmaps.

Inkscape is 100 % free graphic software available also for Linux. But this tool is still young, newest release is 0.46. Here are some new features in latest release: Paintbucket tool, 3D Box tool, Native PDF and AI import, Bitmap editing extension effects, Significant speed and interactivity improvements and hundreds of smaller features and bug fixes. Good thing about Inkscape is that team behind it is working hard and new updates are common. Next release will have eraser, new tool with two modes, pen and pencil tool with few modes like spiro mode, zigzag mode and paraxial mode. Sounds exciting? That's just a tip of the iceberg.

Working with Inkscape is really fun and interesting. Sometimes it's very easy to achieve amazing effects and sometimes I think it's impossible to recreate some things. Inkscape tutorials are not hard to find online, but volume and quality of tutorials are far behind those for PS and other more popular graphical software. However, this void is also great opportunity.
